Vabs’ Weekend Wisdom: Ranch Dressing

I admit it, I love food.  Yes, it’s true!  One thing that I love to put on multiple types of food is Ranch Dressing.  Yep, I said it, Ranch Dressing, and I’m sorry Kraft’ you just don’t cut it… When I say Ranch Dressing I mean Hidden Valley Ranch.  I’ll even accept the Hidden Valley Ranch Light, but not the fat free version – that’s where I draw my line – we all have standards.

Let me tell you the ways you can use Ranch Dressing on/over the following:

  • Salad (obviously – it’s intended use)
  • Chicken Wings (replacement for Blu Cheese)
  • Chicken Fingers (mix it with BBQ Sauce for extra zing)
  • Steak (as a replacement for a Hollandaise sauce)
  • Burger
  • Falafel
  • Pizza
  • Cereal
  • Over a wound for healing
  • Helps with weight loss
  • Helps regrow hair
  • Restore sight

Let me know how you feel about Ranch (below).  How can you not love Ranch Dressing?  It will enhance your life…

Vabs’ Weekend Wisdom: Screams and Smiles

Many apologies for the delay in posting my weekend wisdom.  I was in Virginia this past weekend, visiting my 3 nieces all under the age of 6.  It was so much fun to see how excited (screams and smiles) they were for everything!

–  When I woke up in the morning there was a cheer when I arose from my slumber

–  When they road their bikes around the driveway

–  When I would chase them around the house

–  When we ate Birthday Cake – this was huge – many screams and smiles before and afterward

–  When they listened to music and it became a dance party

It made me appreciate that every day is an adventure and anything that happens can be exciting!  I think if we all looked at everyday in this way we would all be screaming and smiling all day!  I know I’m trying to do it this week.  If you see me, and I scream and smile don’t be surprised…

Vabs has apologized, but is it enough?

Vabs’ Weekend Wisdom: Mother Nature

Here’s a bit of wisdom that I picked up this week during the Chicago Blizzard of 2011.

( E. Jason Wambsgans, Chicago Tribune / February 2, 2011 )

DO NOT Challenge Mother Nature when snow is involved! (see blizzard challenge)  I was brash and young enough that the weathermen predict and control the weather.  I want to let you all know that this is not the case.  I believe it to be a higher power – Mother Nature.  When you challenge her to a duel you better be ready to reap the consequences.  I did and lost.

This is my formal apology to the city of Chicago for my brash statements last week.  I am sorry for causing the Chicago blizzard of 2011 the third worst blizzard in Chicago History.  I promise next time I will choose my words carefully.

I hope everyone in the Chicago and Chicagoland area has it in their heart to forgive me.

Meg’s Thursday Fun Fact

Hawaii used to be called “Sandwich Islands” and was named after the Earl of Sandwich.

This week’s fun fact brought to you by Cory Matthews, Mr. Feeney, and the Boy Meets World Geography Bee.

Chicago Blizzard Beware

As Chicago gears up for one of the worst blizzards since Jan 2, 1999…  I think to myself -how often are weatherpeople right?  I’d say what 50% of the time – especially in the winter – either it’s going to snow or not.   I’d take those odds in Vegas, and I’ll take those odds now.
Hear me Blizzard – I mock you!  Do your worst if you dare, it’s you and me this week (and possibly the city of Chicago)…

Vabs’ Weekend Wisdom: LNB

This week’s weekend wisdom could save your life.

When having a night on the town, and a large amount of alcohol has been consumed, nothing helps you get through the next day like a Burrito at 3 am (Late Night Burrito – LNB).  Trust me this will save your life one day…

But remember, not all burritos are equal…  Finding favorite late night places around the city will be the best life boat and allow you to eat with friends and then head home to sleep it all off.

My rules are:

  1. Steak – Chicken at 3 am just doesn’t give you what you need late night
  2. No Rice – You don’t need that filler taking up precious space in your flour tortilla
  3. Always eat it with a knife and fork – Even at 3 AM you can still be civilized – think about it – you’ve been out late night where have your hands been…

What do you like on your burrito?

Meg’s Thursday Fun Fact

“Moshi Moshi” means “hello” when answering the phone in Japan.

I neither speak nor understand Japanese. But I did watch that episode of Full House where Michelle calls Japan to show off her counting skills.

Moshi moshi, dude!

Meg’s Thursday Fun Fact

Fun fact of the day: A giraffe’s tongue is blue.

Most people learn things from books. I snagged that gem from an episode of Salute Your Shorts.
